MATERIALS

For the Online Cyanotype Course

Absolutely necessary

  • cyanotype chemicals

    Cyanotype Chemicals

Potassium Ferricyanide and Ferric Ammonium Citrate. These create the photosensitive solution.

There are some variations on the chemicals, but if they specifically say they are for cyanotype they will work. You can also buy them through amazon here:

  • natural fibre brush for cyanotype printing

    Brush

Soft brushes or foam applicators work very well for evenly coating your surface with the chemicals.

I personally prefer natural fibre brushes. You can buy it here:

  • watercolour paper for cyanotype printing

    Paper

Choose high-quality, absorbent materials like watercolour paper or natural fabrics (cotton, linen) for best results.

I recommend Canson watercolour paper 300gr/ 140lbs. You can find it here:

Nice to have

  • cyanotype chemicals

    3 Glass Containers

I recommend three containers. One for each of the two chemicals and one for mixing them together. You can use any glass or ceramic container, but try to use containers that you won’t use for eating or cooking.

  • syringes

    2 Syringes

To measure and mix the chemicals.

You can label them A and B to avoid cross contamination.

  • plastic gloves

    Gloves

    for safety when handling chemicals.

  • Contact sandwich

To keep things in place during sun exposure.

    You can do one with:

    Glass + Cardboard + 4 clips

I use a the back and the glass of a cheap frame and add the clips.
