Join us for a 3-hour cyanotype workshop where you'll explore the magic of one of the oldest photographic printing processes. This hands-on class will guide you through the art of creating stunning blue prints using natural sunlight.

  • This workshop is perfect for artists, photographers, crafters, and anyone interested in learning a unique and historical printing technique. No prior experience is necessary!

  • • History and Basics of Cyanotype: Understand the origins and evolution of cyanotype printing, from its invention by Sir John Herschel to its modern-day applications.

    • Materials and Chemicals: Get acquainted with the essential materials, including the photosensitive chemicals (ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide), papers, and other materials.

    • Preparing Your Print Surface: Learn how to coat your chosen paper with the photosensitive solution.

    • Creating Your Design: Explore various techniques for designing your cyanotype print, using objects, plants, and transparencies.

    • Exposure Process: Harness the power of the sun (or a UV light source) to expose your design, creating beautiful blue hues.

    • Developing and Washing: Discover the process of developing your print in water and the final steps to reveal your masterpiece.

  • • All necessary materials (chemicals, paper, fabric, gloves, etc.)

    • A detailed handout covering the cyanotype process and techniques

    • A selection of objects and transparencies for creating unique designs

  • • An apron or wear old clothes (it can get messy!)

    • Any personal items or plants you’d like to use for your designs (optional)

    • Your creativity and enthusiasm!
