Hasta cada momento
My grandfather used to say this phrase to say goodbye.
Every Saturday, we would have a big family lunch together with my twenty-something cousins, and as he walked us out the door, he would wave goodbye with a smile that always felt slightly nostalgic.
"Hasta cada momento" translates literally to "until every moment." Rather than simply saying "see you soon," it carries the idea that every moment until we meet again matters, that each one is worth cherishing. It always made me feel so loved, and at the same time, it reminded me to cherish every moment spent in loving company.
Now that I live abroad, away from my big latin family, while at the same time just beginning to form my own, I feel loving bonds growing stronger. I hope I can pass on that same love and care to those who come after me.
